The Story of Laban Akula Otuma

My name is Laban Akula Otuma. I enrolled at AFMIN for a diploma course in pastoral leadership in 2003 and successfully completed the course in 2007.
The training has been a great asset in my own personal life and in addition I have been able to use the leadership skills that I obtained to impact others positively in the church, amongst my peers and in my day-to-day lifestyle. It has provided me with a platform to reach people and contact them physically on a daily basis and the change I have witnessed in their lives has made me appreciate the knowledge I have consumed and learnt.

At the recent election that was held in 2007 in our country there were disagreements among our national leaders that resulted in massive violence and destruction. It is in this post election violence where my elder brother was tragically murdered. My brother left behind his pregnant wife and three young children. My sister-in-law later gave birth in the year that followed but lost the baby. I now have a huge responsibility to take care of this young family since my sister-in-law is not employed. I am also not employed but rely on small jobs that cannot sustain us.
I therefore trust in God and have faith that He will come to my aid and provide any form of assistance e.g. food, shelter, education, clothes and above all the love of God. Any form of support and prayers will be highly appreciated.

James 1:27 - What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.

God bless you
Laban Akula Otuma
